Racing Tire Size

As I draw ever closer to affording a set of Falken Azenis 615 tires, I need to decide what tire size. These are going on my GS rims (stock size of 215/55/16). I'm thinking of getting 215/45/16 as it would very slightly reduce my final drive ratio but the tires are also available in 225/50/16. I don't think sidewall roll would be much of an issue so the question is which is more beneficial, a centimeter off the tire's radius or an extra centimeter of traction.

45's might be good. it'll make ur shifts shorter, which may help out with those low rpm 2nd gear times. also less sidewall=quicker response, but i auto-x on 225/50's on the GS wheels and it was pretty good but i think the 45 might be worth a try.

get the 225s.

btw 225/50's are what's on brian's nsx wheels. althou its a wider rim.

I really wish Falken would offer a 225 40 16, or even a 235 40/45 but there just doesn't seem to be that many people running them on 16" rims.

Ken - I'd go with the 45 sidewall - I like my tires and I haven't felt any sidewall flex with the 50's but with a 6.5" rim, I'd suggest the lowest sidewall available to keep flex at a minimum.

You can get that size on the Toyo Proxes T1Rs.

t1r's are badass, they are awesome on the track, and have great wet traction, however the 615's are stickier dry with very little wet traction

T1R's are also $40 more a tire...
