Default Cruise Control always playing catch up

Well since I picked up my 95L from blubrett. I have been in legend heaven. That dude put a lot of love and money into this old girl, and it still shows.

When a legend is this solid, you start nit-picking at the little stuff. Like a cruise control that loses 5-8 mph when you engage it and remove your foot from the pedal.

First thing I checked was cable tension. Throttle cable was dead on, but the cruise cable had noticeable slack. So I snugged it up. This improved things a bit, maybe 15% decrease in response time. However I was still hitting that deceleration wall when removing my foot from the gas pedal.

I've been chasing an egr code for a few days. So my throttle mech cover was removed again for manual underhood manipulation of the throttle.
I noticed the plate on the throttle mechanism that gets struck by both the throttle cable and the cruise cable rotating mechanism. This plate had a set screw for adjustment of when the throttle cable mechanism strike it, and is flat where the cruise mech meets it. Well mine was bent down, the throttle would strike it correctly, but the cruise had to reach way down to make contact.

Long story short, I bent it back to level, now my cruise control is spot on.

So if your cruise seems laggy, take a look around your throttle mechanism first.
