Default Bad starter? or is something else wrong

So I have a black 1993 Acura Legend that still runs great but when i turn the key to start my car SOMETIMES it will just click one time.. After many times of trying to start(3-5 times) it will start up just fine. Other times she starts up just fine on the first turn of the key. I dont know if its the starter thats bad, the battery thats bad, or if some cable just doesn't have a good connection. All the lights in the dashboard come on like the battery is good and has enough juice. Ive never heard of the "one click" thing, ive always heard of the "three click" when your battery is low.

As for the "click" im talking about, sounds like when i turn the key the key is making something hit something, then when i let the key go it releases making it sound like a click when its done fast...i guess :dunno:

If anyone has ever heard of this or has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!,this site has been great to me with my legend!

Sounds like the main relay is gone. Try banging on the knee bolster on the left side of the steering wheel. Sometimes if its just starting to to bad, you can get it to start.

1. check connection at battery, check for any corrosion and clean, make sure connections are tight
2. check your ground wire connections
3. check main relay

Posted in the wrong section.

But to your question, it sounds like you might have a loose connection on the ground wire. trace the ground wire that goes to the battery. make sure it has fresh clean metal.

If it just clicks once it's *not* the main relay. Check your battery cables and terminals for corrosion and make sure they're tight. (Step 1 of Akings reply)

I am leaning towards the main relay being the culprit. I ran into the problem a cpl of yrs ago and replacing it fixed the problem. there is a fix for it here, and a better explanation w/ fix here. gl with it, its not all that easy to get to, wasn't for me anyway. I ended up getting a friend to pull it for me.
