Default Gear grinding noise

Started my car this morning and im hearing this faint grinding noise about every 5-10 seconds while just sitting at idle . Open hood and the noise is coming from left side of engine by the abs reservoir area. Is the starter located in that area?? Any ideas on what noise can be?

Ditto the abs (alb) pump, provided you are not hearing the noise prior to the car moving after first being cranked.

The pump (which is under the battery tray) pressurizes the alb system to very high pressure. If there are no leaks in the system it will only run when you activate the system by locking up a tire. But as the system ages and as the fluid gets dirty the solenoids will begin to let fluid leak past them (an internal leak) and the pump will have to run more often to rebuild pressure.

Exercising the system will sometimes clear up the problem. Find a gravel road or a slick road and lock the tires up a few times to circulate the fluid through the solenoids. There's also a DIY on here somewhere the explains how to do it manually. If you've never replaced the brake fluid in the alb system, it's overdue. There's a special Bleeder T-Wrench that makes it much easier, and safer.

So the first step is verify the noise is coming from the alb pump. If so, check the fluid level in the alb reservoir to make sure you don't have an external leak. If that is ok, exercise the solenoids. If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the fluid, bleed the system and exercise the solenoids again.

If that doesn't fix it, you may need to tear down the solenoids and clean them. Or, you may have an internal leak inside the accumulator. Once the void space in the accumulator finally fills up, the problem will appear to go away, but your alb system will not work as well.

You can also pull the fuses and disable the whole system.

I haven't herd the grinding noise this morning but now I'm getting a writes smell like rubber or plastic burning but when I open the good I don't smell it I smell it in the cabin while driving

It could be your cabin blower motor. It's behind the glovebox if the grinding noise is coming from there. Do you have a manual or auto?

I have a Manuel and I'm almost certain that the noise came from the engine bay by the abs pump . Does anyone know if the starter is right next to the abs pump??

The starter motor is right under the intake tube that goes from the air filter housing to the throttle body, Might want to make sure you aren't low on MT fluid. Here's the info page:

Ok then it was the starter like it was trying to engage and disengage when the car was idling. The car was in neutral and I have no shifting problems. When you say check MT fluid that is just clutch fluid In the reservoir behind the brake reservoir??
