Default I learned something today...

Corvettes are fast...very fast.

I was taking a cruise tonight in my Legend and came up to a red light. A beautiful black C5 corvette pulled up to the side of me. There was no one in front of us and I knew that the two lane road that Mr.Corvette and I were on merges into one lane about 100yds later. I looked over and saw that the guy in the corvette was like in his mid 50s. In my mind I was thinking "There is no way in hell this guy will try to race me"

Light turns green and I pull away with about half gas down and shift at only 4k in first gear. He was keeping up but I could tell he wasn't really trying. But I was bound and determined to get ahead. In second gear I put it to the floor and got about a car length ahead before I heard that 5.7 liter V8 power plant open up and that Corvette just took off like a damn rocket. He passed me up like I wasn't even moving. He was probably about 7 or 8 car lengths ahead buy the time it turned into a one lane road.

I'm fairly sure it was a regular C5 and not the Z06, but I know for sure it was a manual. So it had 350hp versus my 161hp...

I have some advice for everyone. Don't mess with old men in Corvettes.

yeah... not sayin the car didn't win out....

but if you lay the pedal down halfway through 1st gear instead of after it shifts to 2nd, you get more power in 2nd.

but i've found you can't lay it down off the line... you have to move regular just at first, then immediately lay it down.

Well I didn't think he would try to pass me so that is why I didn't try that hard in first gear. But when he didn't back down that is when I tried to get ahead and failed miserably lol.

I knew I would get killed if he tried but I kinda wanted him to do what he did so I could hear the growl of that beast. The C5 is my favorite American car.

OLDSKOOLACURA, bikes are fast compared to a corvette but not a old worn out 1980s luxury coupe lol. And yes the new ZR-1 and quite quick.
