Question Timing Belt Tensioner ? need help fast

I took my bottom timing cover off and the spring on the tensioner was just hanging on the stub on the water pumphgeez: So now i got the belt on and the new tensioner and the spring isnt doing anything seems like it is too long or the tensioner is on wrong I dont know. But it doesnt make sense it looks like the spring would pull it loose not tight. I need this finished and running by sunday night and I also have my intake mani off to so i need help fast please
any pictures?

Do u have the tensioner pull "arm" on the little pin right above the crank. It's kinda hard to see but look directly about the crank and there will be a pin that the arm goes on that will make the spring tight and prevent the tensioner from moving. Also post a picture so we can see what u see.

There's my problem! duh haha I didnt see that, thanks everything is on right now and the timing is perfect.
