Default fuel pump woes!!!!

I've gotten fed up with my bosch 044 install... I could run it in tank but with ALOT of headaches....

so im going to attempt to put it externally and tap the tank for how I want it to be. Besides my dad has ANYONE EVER done a external fuel pump setup directly from the tank?

dv8?telion?

My plan is as follows, drop the tank, tap the tank with a 1/2 npt to feed a filter then into the pump. This was originally how I wanted to do this install but I wanted to avoid dropping the tank.. now I guess I will be fully setup for twin pumps... YIPPIE but a PITA!

so my next question is how hard is it to drop the tank?

def not too bad dropping the tank Lou, but helps to have a 2nd person. I remembered that I had not removed the gas tank on a shell I was selling right as the tow truck guy showed up....I was able to take it off solo while laying on my back, not fun, but it's doable.

but if you jack it up the rear, use a 2nd jack to support the gas tank as you take off the hoses and the straps holding it up

My only concern is the filler neck hoses. I don't have a return line or feed line in the tank.

If u had to guess how heavy is the tank? When its drained? How high did u have the car also?

I just ordered the parts...twin feed setup coming sooner rather then later

i guess the axle metal ties didn't work i'm guessin? sucks man, but it'll be hella easier to work on the fuel pump if you do it external.

GrtoutdoorsAZ is on point about the jack under the tank though... but i suggest putting a small piece of wood between it so you don't get a dent.
