Without derailing the thread too much. Where the fittings meet the condenser or compressor you can get corrosion which will cause a leak. The condenser can go bad, as can the clutch or compressor. I've even seen the little rubber o rings dry rot from the a/c sitting long periods without use. Occasionally you will see a cracked a/c line, but thats usually from someone doing work on the car and bending one of the a/c lines or pinching it. Or, it could just need to have the freon refilled, which would be the cheapest fix.

All of these are the reasons our old honda systems fail ( any old honda system not just legends )
An a/c system is closed system that should never need maintence unless a componet has failed. The system does not consume freon like an engine can consume oil. Unless their is a leak the system should never lose freon.
