You never know though, if you piss and moan enough, they will give you damn near anything you want. Thats how it is in my experience (I work at an Acura dealership). You were probably labeled as a DNA, and the service manager has already seen info on you and if you bitch enough, they will more than likely fix it because eventually, it can be escalated to involve the higher ups at Acura USA or whatever, and then the service manager can really get a fire under his ass to improve shit. Thats how it works with us ... Customers really are number one for us ... Service customers anyways. I mean, service pays the bills and keeps the lights on.

God that sounds like such a conspiracy ...

Good luck man.

I wish man, this adapter cost me about $160. Maybe I can replace the just the cable for a lot less, but damn.

I just don't want to be that guy who bitches just to get something for nothing. That's not what I'm after, I just want my cable replaced since they fucked it up. Oh and it's not a conspiracy, of course service pays the bills. What's a DNA?

It means Do not accept. Like after you pay, we go to oyr computer and close out the service Repair Order, but if we have a Dna for someone, we wont close your RO (which doesnt effext you at all), so we wont make our sercice calls to see how your service went and you wont get an inquiry from Acura, that way you cant give us bad ratings with out us trying to rectify the problem. But after we fix the problem, we close the report and give ya a call just to verify that everything is ok.

I cant see the service manager turning your claim down, but our service manager is a great guy...

I met with the service manager and showed him the pinched wire and told him I know it was working when I brought it in. He stuck by his technician, insisting he wasn't anywhere near the center console, but that he'd gladly replace the wire.

Having submitted the evidence, I went home and took the console apart to get the full picture. While the wire was pinched under the screw head, it wasn't punctured. BUT, the wire was actually unplugged from the converter box! (if you're not familiar with the Pod-Hon adapter, it goes from ipod to a control box, and then to the head unit) In my mind that makes it seem even more like someone was monkeying around in there, because it's not the type of plug that would just fall out, you have to hold two release tabs while you pull it.

But why would a technician at a dealership take my center console apart, just to unplug my ipod adapter?

I dunno, maybe I'm just crazy or paranoid. But I'm not going back there.

They must have disconnected the battery as part of the clutch service - or they left the key on and drained down the battery. Then, they needed to remove the radio for the serial number on the back of the radio - to look up the code.

Are your station presets still what they were before you had the service?

Good call, I hadn't even thought of that.

I hadn't set any presets since the last time I had the stereo out, so I wouldn't have been able to tell.
