Real Name: Michael K. | 2nd Generation MDX Shifter Install 2nd Generation MDX Shifter Install Step 1: Remove your shifter and all of its components so the shifter shaft looks like this: Step 2: Leave about that much plastic on the MDX shifter; cut off the rest. Step 3: Drill a hole on both sides of the MDX shifter as pictured. Step 4: (optional) I used a dermal tool to cut away plastic from the shifter mechanism cover so I can fit my shift boot underneath the plastic trim piece. This isn’t necessary; you may be able to fit the boot underneath without doing this. Step 5: Slide the boot over the shaft and put the MDX shifter on top. Use the screws/bolts from your old shifter to attach the MDX shifter in place. Step 6: Pull the boot up and zip-tie the end around the shifter shaft, right below the knob. Step 7: Pull the boot down, tuck it underneath the center console trim and place the black bezel/trim piece in place. |
