Default antenna problem

just got a new antenna and it goes up all nice and neat but when its all the way up it makes a kinda grinding noise for a few seconds. same when it goes down and it doesnt go all the way down. i checked out the gears and everything looks to be fine but it just does not want to go down. any idea what could be happening? got a video for you too.

Is it one of those $30 universal aftermarket antennas? If it is, that's why. If it's an OEM antenna, is it actually new or used? Pull out the mast and see if the teeth are worn.

I replaced the masst with a $30 Ebay unit and solved that problem. It's been perfect for about 3 years now. Shaved would look pretty though!

well if you shave it then you need to hook up one of those hidden antennas. I replaced my mast but not the complete assembly and it didn't fix the problem so im looking to find a good hidden antenna now
