First off, I wasn't looking for an Acura Legend. I was looking for a Ford Crown Vic police package. Been without a second car since a layoff in April 2009. Was getting tired of trying to time-share the family minivan as I started my own business.

One day I was visiting my sister in law, she's a collector of metallic junk, and she had an 86 legend sitting out on her land, and it was covered in mud, the sunroof leaked, and the interior had plants growing in it.

She said it ran and drove well, and a quick test drive proved it did those things, at least up and down her street. I bought it for $500 and drove it home. The next morning it wouldn't go into gear and the AC wouldn't blow so I had it towed to my local mechanic. Three weeks and $600 later I got the car back and started to clean it up. It does not look too bad.

The doors all lock except the driver's door. I can't keep anything in the car of value. The AC works but only on the full blast setting (that's actually not a problem here in TX). None of the windows work except the driver's window.

So it's got some problems, but nothing too major. Googled to try to find a service manual and found this place. Hopefully someone can help me at least figure out how to get the driver's door to lock.

we have the repair manual online for your DL on here.....lots of great info on there. Several of the guys collect and grab parts as we go out and about, looking scouring, salvaging, etc.

I am unsure what I am gonna with my Legend now since I wrecked it....but I have a TIN of good parts...like a blower control switch, locks, key cylinders, etc......like I said I dont know what I am gonna do just yet though.

Grats on the pick up....I was close in the price on buying and repairs...so dont feel bad...$1100 isnt bad at all for something that actually drives, the paint holds up surprisingly well and can prolly be polished back out pretty good.....keep it clean and you just might surprise yourself.

on a side note....I MAY be moving out that way here pretty soon....dont know yet on that either at this moment, but its a definite thought for me

^ heh, ain't that the truth.

i'm from dallas too man. nice find. ..in a field too. mine's an 88. when i got mine, and i got her for 500 too, she had 3 broken mounts and a bunch of stuff not working. without too much money, i've repaired a lot of stuff on it. she's pretty fast now, but i'm lookin to fix her up for a steady daily driver.

like some'll say, the car you got is a tank.

Welcome. You got yourself the first year of the Legend that was created. About the door not locking, are you trying to lock it with the door closed or open? If its open, then you need to hold open either the outside door handle or the inside, then lock it.

I found out how to lock the door last night... Standing outside the car, open the left rear passenger door, close the driver door. Push down the lock on the driver door, it locks. Lock the passenger door, close the passenger door. Only problem is my key won't open the driver door (the entire driver door handle and lock is a different color from the body of the car so I suspect it's keyed differently) so I have to open the right front passenger door when I want back in. Did these things come with remote key entry systems?

Drove it around a bunch yesterday and after parking at the house I noticed that the clutch pedal was depressed all by itself and would not come back up to the normal resting position. I will check on it this morning but I hope I don't need to do another $75 tow back to the mechanic...

EDIT to add: I went out this morning and just manually pulled the clutch pedal back up and it seems to work now.
