I added some photos to post #2 and #3.

I made this video kind of summing up what has/needs to be done and taking a drive with it.

http://youtu.be/erQVN1eON_k

What needs to be done to complete the swap
1. Bend shift rod or clearance console
2. Hook up relays to enable reverse lights and neutral -> D1 shift
3. Hook up & adjust clutch interlock switch
4. Relocate wire harness under clutch pedal
5. Securely mount clutch reservoir
6. Neaten up and mount "dummy solenoids"
7. Fit custom boot to RL center console

Other stuff that needs to be done on the car to bring the car to "acceptabilty"
1. Repair left rear VSA/ABS speed sensor
2. Repair/replace steering column
3. Uncrustify headlights
4. Repair/replace rear bumper
5. Repair/replace left front fender
6. Degrease entire undercarriage from former oil leak

so I just heard about this today... SWEET!

Instead of clearancing the console like you mention, is it possible to cut and weld 2 90s into the shifter to move it further back... kind of like the old Mustang shifter?

This is good news.

I would really like to have this done at some point... would completely uncomplicate my next few moves in power upgrades.

I always dreamed of doing this with a Ferrari style shifter gate.

I think a slight bend would be cheaper/faster, and that's my plan.

This project is on hiatus right now, BTW. I need to make some money so I can finish it up. I'd like to have it on the road sometime in July.

I believe you, just find it a little funny how the project got reverted. Now I'm wondering if the RL was still a bore with the 6spd in it. And no FB for me... but, my Father is in the group covering for me.
