Default tools for drilling

i am not a handy man. so i have a question for you guys.
i need to drill a hole on my metal gate for a place to put my lock, so i can lock the gate. its one of those long rolling gate.
what tools do you used for that ? i know i need a drill, and bits. but what kind do you reccomend? and whats one for a good price? and where? home depot, ace hardware, harborfrieghts?

drill, cutting oil, carbide drill bit. get em all at harbor freight for about $30-$40 total.

If its a one time deal you don't need cutting oil because you'll just loose or throw away the bits afterwords.

My cheap bits wont touch them. 1 carbide bit is cheaper than buying a cheap set, finding they wont even touch a metal lock, and then having to buy a carbide bit
