If anyone's going to a salvage yard this weekend, I'd like to request a pick.
There's a pair of nylon cap/stoppers that hold the wiper blade mechanism push rod arms to the pivot near the middle top of the firewall (under the valance). These come with the purchase of the entire rod, rather than by themselves. However, the rods are no longer available and there's not a dealer in the US who has them in stock. So, I'm left to salvage. In the meantime, I have no wipers, and it's bound to rain. I should mention that the procedure to remove them is quite simple. But, that doing so wrongly will crack them (as in my case) and render them useless. Let me know. Thanks The proper method (as described in the Service Manual, had I looked first) is to use a flatblade screwdriver and pry the entire rod from the pivot (not just the nylon cap) from below the rods' flat end. Once loose, the nylon cap is easily poped out of the rod end. Anyone up for this? To get to it, the black valance between the hood and windshield has to be removed. And, the wiper blade arms. There's about six phillips head screws under flat black caps along the length below the windshield. There's one at each end, outside the hood below the fender line near the windshield. The gasket along the front edge just pops out of 8 or so holes. Once the valance is off, it's apparent.
