Over the past year, my engine has cut off 4 times while running. Twice while parked and idling. Once during initial take off from a stop sign. Then today, after hitting a big bump driving around 30 mph. Each time the car started right back up with no issues whatsoever. Restarting right away makes me think it isn’t fuel pump. Right? I replaced the main relay with a brand new OEM one about 1.5 years ago. Fuel filter replaced about 3 months ago. Maybe the ignition switch? Thanks for the advice. |

Real Name: DUH The Mad Scientist!! A.K.A. Chaka | I really have no idea on this one but shall watch curiously for others to input. The fact you replaced the main relay covers the only "possible idea" I had initially. Cracked joints in those could possible separate in a good jolt and then make contact again. Its very "interesting" how that main relay is basically a "red light", "green light" for telling the fuel pump on or off. When they're operating properly its a fantastic thing and when they aren't they turn what was originally a $40 - $45 luxury flagship automobile into basically a HUGE PAPERWEIGHT!

Quiet here. Just visited with a local mechanic friend of mine. He thinks my key chain is too heavy, and that, coupled with a weak ignition switch is causing the issue. I stripped down to just the Legend key and fob. We’ll see. |

Definitely switch or main relay. Even after replacing my main relay it sometimes acts up like the plug isn't very snug and I have to grab it to turn the car over and it has exhibited nearly cutting out in motion.

This happened to me a few times years ago. My car would stall when slowing to a stop, probably when the auto transmission changed down from 4th to 3rd. It was sludge in the throttle body. Remove the intake breather tube at the throttle body and wipe it clean with a towel. That's it.
